Dealer lot management

  1. Tag it at intakeInstall a unit when the car arrives and set it to Dealer Mode. From then on the platform shows where it sits and every time it moves.
  2. Find any car on the lotParked units check in 2 times a day, so the map shows where every car was last parked: the front line, the back lot or the shop.
  3. See every moveA test drive, a porter move or a trip to the body shop wakes the unit, and it reports every 5 minutes until the car parks again.
  4. Sold, financed, protectedAfter the sale, switch it to Default Mode to save battery for the life of the loan. If a car goes missing or a customer stops paying, switch on Recovery Mode for a live location.

Default Mode

The factory setting, for cars that sit. The unit stays in a low-power state and sends a fixed check-in 2 times a day (every 12 hours).

Dealer Mode

For the lot. Parked, the unit stays in a low-power state and checks in 2 times a day. When the car moves it switches to live tracking, one report every 5 minutes until it parks again.

Recovery Mode (stolen cars and skips)

When a car is reported stolen or a customer skips, switch on Recovery Mode from the platform. It gives your recovery team a live location: every 5 minutes while moving and 2 times a day while parked. It tracks like Dealer Mode; the two differences are on the right.

How Recovery Mode differs

  • It switches back to Default Mode after 72 hours, or when you cancel it.
  • You can receive Recovery Mode alerts. Dealer Mode has no alerts.

Good to know. Battery life depends on the reporting mode and how often the car moves. Steps may change with new hardware; the current guide is always at gpsleaders.com.
